Expert Grill Pizza oven Back in Action

Its been about 5 months since I baked pizzas in the Expert Grill 15″ Pizza Oven. I was worried that I forgot how to use it =). It took me an hour to just setup a station for the pizza oven. I don’t have my usual setup at this house were are staying at now.

I got 2 Pizza Buddy dough balls from Walmart on our way home. I split one pizza dough ball into 2 smaller ones that fit perfect into the Expert Grill 15″ pizza oven.

The first pizza out the oven was the classic cheese pizza.

The second pizza was with Mushrooms & Peppers with mozzarella cheese with shredded parmesan cheese.

The third pizza to come out the Expert Grill 15″ Pizza oven was the white pie with Ricotta, Mozzarella and shredded parmesan cheese.

The final pizza to be baked in the Expert Grill 15″ Pizza was my girlfriends choice. A mix of everything left over with some tomatoes, mozzarella and shredded parmesan cheese.

This $97 Expert Grill 15″ pizza oven has been one of the best purchases I made and something that I have been using now for almost 2 years. Worth every penny.

The cheese pizza from Villa Gaudio of Bullvile NY. We sat down to eat some pasta with chicken. I also got 3 slices because I knew that one meal wasn’t going to fill us both haha. When we got the check to pay I was still starving so we ordered a full pie to go. It only took them about 8 minutes to bake the pizza. These pictures show it right out the oven.

Pozzuoli Pizza Party – 1884 Steinway St – Queens NY

Driving in Queens we discovered a wood fired pizza oven on a backroad near Rikers Island jail. We had to turn around to try some of the pizza. It was $12 for the plain cheese.

Just one person working in there and baking pizzas in 90 seconds or less.

The pizza in the box. He could use some bigger boxes because 2 of the slices were flopped over.

Our friend recommended we checkout F & J Pizzeria in Washingtonville NY. We ordered a pizza and drove the 8 minutes from the Schunemunk Mountain trailhead.

The classic cheese pizza was really good. We ate most of the pizza on the drive home. We also got a chicken roll and that was delicous.

Siena’s Pizza – Monticello, New York

We haven’t been to Siena’s Pizzeria in Monticello in over 5 plus years. It was always a hit or miss with the pizza. Some days it was good and others not so good. That is the main story for most of the pizzerias around us. I’m trying to get videos and feedback on all the local pizzerias in my area. We decided to give Siena another try while my brother was visiting.

We got one plain cheese pizza and it looked nice and crispy from the top but when you look at the undercarriage there was no crunch or char. The cheese and sauce tasted okay but I just wish the dough had more crunch to it. You can see in the video I shared on Youtube.

Brio’s Pizza after Hiking the Catskills Fire Tower Challenge 2024

We just finished hiking the Hunter Mountain fire tower for the 2024 Catskills Fire Tower Challenge on Thursday. The Brios Pizza spot is on the way home. This was the second time we went to Brios in the same week. Just the day before we stopped by for pizza after finishing the Overlook Fire Mountain tower.

On Wednesday we got the fresh mozzarella, garlic, tomatoes with chicken pizza. We had this pizza a few times at Brio’s already. This time we added some chicken on it. It wasn’t bad but I wasn’t a fan of the chunky tomatoes. In the past they sliced them really thin and that was much better.

I really wanted to try the plain pizza so I got 2 slices for myself.

When we came back the next day to finish another Catskills fire tower hike we stopped by to get a fresh plain pie. The pizza would have been really good if they didn’t go so crazy with the garlic. It was way too overpowering for this plain cheese pizza. Some spots of the pizza there wasn’t any garlic on it and that was really tasty.

Homemade Pizza Day with 4 Pies

I forgot my outdoor pizza oven at the other places we were staying. I was craving some pizza and decided to try the new electric oven we got in the old house. The oven was able to hit 550F pretty quickly. I was going to use my pizza stone but I forgot that at the other place.

The first pizza was the classic cheese pizza. I split an 16oz pizza dough into 2 smaller pizza doughs. Normally in the Expert Grill 15″ wood fired pizza oven they would rise up more while baking. The same didn’t happen with the electric oven.

The second pizza with the plain cheese pizza with some basil on it.

The third pizza of the night was half peppers/mushrooms with half suho meso (dried beef jerkey)

The last and final pizza of the night was the dessert pizza with some nutella, strawberries and blueberries. This one gets a lot of hate on YouTube but it taste delicious.

How often do you make pizza at home? What is your favorite method of cooking pizzas at home? I prefer my Expert Grill 15″ outdoor pizza oven but when its cold out the electric oven does the job.

Gotta Luv It Pizzeria in Wurtsboro NY

Gotta Luv It Pizzeria in Wurtsboro NY

The Gotta Luv It Pizzeria in Wurtsboro NY was one of the first pizza places we tried when we left Ridgewood, Queens to move into the woods about 10 years ago. I was excited that the town we moved in had a decent pizza shop but not so excited that they didn’t deliver to my area but I totally understood because nothing is close by when you live in the woods. Everything is 15-20 minutes one way usually.

A few days ago we got a fresh plain pie on our way home from work. The pizza was good, there was no leftovers. The biggest issue I find with smaller pizzerias is consistent pizza. One day you might think its the best pizza in the world and next week you try it again and its totally different. I would recommend giving Gotta Luv It Pizzeria in Wurtsboro NY a try if you are in the area.

The second classic pizza from The Dale. Both really delicious but one of the classics had more of the cheese melted which I preferred over the other one.
